When it comes to mother nature it is hard to plan for an exact date. We erred on the side of caution of having our opening weekend based on the longest maturity dates of our sunflower field variety which is September 12th. However, they could very well come on as early as August 28th and if that happens, we will move our opening weekend up as well as add more days and hours.
We purposely planted shorter branching varieties (3.5ft to 5ft) for a couple reasons. One they offer better pictures because you can stand in them and be surrounded by a sea of flowers. Two the parents who frequent our pumpkin festival have said they like being able to see their kids when they are in the maze.
